Purpose: To revive and promote indigenous traditional knowledge skills and cultural activities at the village level, tikina level and/or provincial level.

Funding: $8000 maximum

Objectives of Program 1

• Revival of crafts skills including pottery
• Revival of arts for traditional meke and vucu
• Revival of bure-building skills, woodcarving, canoe-building
• Utilization of natural resources such as bamboo for craft development
• Teaching the art of a community's traditional ceremonies, such as veiqaravi vakavanua, to the youths
• Recording or documentation of community oral traditions, customs, legends, history, and folklores
• Transference of knowledge of legends, oral traditions, and customary practices to the young people in the community
• Beautification and restoration of historical and heritage sites through clean-up campaigns and erection of community monuments
• Recording or documentation of significance of a community's historical and heritage sites
